#TwestSuffolk 2011

Yesterday was global Twestival, a gathering of people who use Twitter. It’s a once a year event to raise money and this year was for the Suffolk Disability Trust. Here in sleepy Suffolk, we decided to hold a number of events across the county.

The sun was shining and by 10am there had already been a couple of events at We Are Condiment and Crafted Media. Now it was our time to shine over at the Bury st Edmunds Theatre Royal. Serendipity Street was providing tea in vintage china teacups and Honor from Simply Sugo had set up her cakes and pastries which looked and tasted divine.

We all listened to Emma Jell, Jamie Riddell, Steve Butterworth and Andrew Walker talk about Social Media. And learnt how it has helped like minded business. Other sessions where happening throughout Suffolk and in the afternoon there was gokarting in Ipswich.

The evening event at The Brewery Tap in Ipswich was great fun a hog roast had been donated by Adrian Melrose. Free drinks and the raffle that I was taking care of was full of generous gifts from the local folk.

We all raised in access of £5,000 for the charity, had a fab time, made new friends and won raffle prizes. It was so much fun, we all want to meet up one day soon.

So if you do or don’t tweet please do get involved with Twestival next year and enjoy your local community in the name of charity.
